Palm Beach Post Today: #LoveWinsExhibition Tops List of 3 to See by Cultural Council of Palm Beach County

YOUR CULTURAL CALENDAR FOR THIS WEEK
3 TO SEE
Schedule your season — with our help
It’s almost the weekend — time for the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County to share with you the best of what our community has to offer. Each week, you get three ideas — one that’s free, one that’s affordable and one that’s a splurge. Your “3 to See” cultural curator is Marilyn Bauer, director of marketing and government affairs at the Cultural Council.

FREE Love wins in Boynton Beach

A few short weeks ago, the U.S. Supreme Court declared same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states, leading to the Twitter trend #lovewins. In Boynton Beach, the “#LoveWins Exhibition” opens tonight at ActivistArtistA Gallery and will feature photos, paintings, sculptures and videos from local artists all honoring the momentous decision. The gallery is a part of the Boynton Beach Art District, so take a walk around and see the murals of Industrial Avenue for the full experience.

“#LoveWinsExhibition:” Tonight at 6. ActivistArtistA Gallery, 422 West Industrial Ave., Boynton Beach. Info: www.activistartista.com

DEAL Spend a day surrounded by sculptures

It’s been a long summer, and you just want a day to yourself; no more work, no more phone calls, no more stress. Take a break this weekend and enjoy it in the peace and quiet of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens before they close for August. Explore the artist’s vintage home in West Palm Beach, along with the bronze, stone and wood works in her studio onsite. The gardens, however, are the real draw: the flora, rare fauna and sculptures such as the famous “Seven Beings” are symbolic of the “secret garden” nature that the museum holds.

Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens: Open Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until July 31; gardens will re-open in September. Admission is $10. 2051 South Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach. Info: 561-832-5328 or www.ansg.org

   SPLURGE

Idina Menzel stops in at Mizner

If you’ve been around children in the last year, there’s a 99 percent chance you’ve heard “Let It Go,” from the 2013 Disney film “Frozen.” The song’s been played in malls, on television and in every family minivan across the country and now; you can see it performed live onstage by the voice of Elsa herself, Idina Menzel. The Broadway star and voice actress will grace the Mizner Amphitheater stage as part of her world tour. There will undoubtedly be some covers and a “Wicked” song or two.

Idina Menzel World Tour: Sunday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $70 and up. Mizner Park Amphitheatre, 590 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. Info: www.idinamenzel.com

“You and I” by Fabrizio Cruz is part of the “#Love Wins Exhibition” in Boynton Beach.
